  • Local-first: Your data is processed and stored on your device by default.
  • End-to-end encryption: Any data synced to our servers is encrypted with keys only you control.
  • No data mining: We never sell, share, or use your personal data for advertising.
  • Transparency: You can always see and control what data exists.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address for authentication and communication.
  • Audio Recordings: When you start a capture session, audio is recorded and transcribed on your device.
  • User Preferences: Settings and preferences you configure in the app.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility.
  • Usage Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to improve the product (can be disabled).

Optional Context Data

With your explicit permission, Zicron Memex can access:

  • Calendar: To provide meeting context for your memories.
  • Location: To add location context to your memories.
  • Health Data: To correlate memories with your activity and wellness data.

All context data remains on your device and is never sent to our servers without your explicit consent.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve Zicron Memex services
  • To authenticate your account and sync data between your devices
  • To send important updates about the service

  • To develop new features based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns

Data Storage and Security

On-Device Storage

All your memories, transcripts, and personal data are stored locally on your device. We use SQLite with WAL mode for reliable, efficient storage. Your data is protected by your device's security features including Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable cloud sync for multi-device access, your data is encrypted end-to-end before leaving your device. We use industry-standard encryption (ChaCha20-Poly1305) with keys derived from your credentials that we never have access to.

Cloud Processing (Optional)

For enhanced AI capabilities, you may optionally enable cloud processing for chat and summarization features. When enabled, context bundles are encrypted and processed in isolated, ephemeral environments. We do not retain this data after processing.

Data Retention

Your memories and transcripts are retained on your device until you choose to delete them. We do not automatically delete your data. You have full control over what to keep and what to remove.

Account information is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all associated data within 30 days.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: You can view all data stored on your device through the app.
  • Export: You can export your data at any time in standard formats.
  • Delete: You can delete individual memories or all data at any time.
  • Opt-out: You can disable analytics and optional data collection features.

Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services for specific functions:

  • Authentication: Apple Sign-In for secure account creation.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Encrypted data storage on trusted cloud providers.
  • AI Processing: Optional cloud AI features using privacy-preserving methods.

We carefully vet all third-party services and only share the minimum data necessary.

Children's Privacy

Zicron Memex is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or through the app before they take effect.
